Your files stay on your computer

The 3D files you open (PLY, compressed PLY, SOG/SOGS, GLB, LCC, etc.) are loaded and rendered entirely in your browser, on your own device. They are not uploaded to our servers — we never receive, see, or store them. Your project and viewer settings are likewise saved locally in your browser.

The one exception is a feature you explicitly start: the optional AI image/video tools send the frame you capture to fal.ai (using your own API key) to produce a result. Nothing else leaves your device.

Your account

Saving a project requires a free account. Sign-in is passwordless: you enter your email address and we send you a one-time code — we never store a password. Alternatively you can sign in with your Google account — we receive only your email address from Google. We store: your email address; sign-up and last sign-in dates; the country your sign-up came from (e.g. "FI" — no precise location). This data operates your account and tells us how many people use GaussianScout (contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Stored with Cloudflare in the EU; sign-in emails delivered via Resend — both our processors. Never sold or shared.

At sign-in an optional un-ticked box subscribes you to occasional GaussianScout news (consent, Art. 6(1)(a)); every such email has an immediate unsubscribe link. You can delete your account at any time from the Account dialog — it immediately removes your email and sign-in data; local project files are unaffected.

What we collect

GaussianScout uses Google Analytics 4 to measure anonymous usage and traffic so we can understand how the tool is used and improve it. This covers aggregate statistics such as page views, device type, screen size, approximate region, and which features are used.

We do not collect personally identifying information, we do not use the data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for basic visitor and page-view counts. It is cookieless, sets nothing on your device, does not track you across sites, and cannot identify you — so it runs without a consent banner. Google Analytics (below), which does set cookies, still runs only after you accept.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets the following first-party cookies, and only after you accept:

We set no analytics cookies until you click Accept on the consent banner. If you click Reject, Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are stored.

Note: the app also stores your own settings (camera presets, quality options, etc.) locally in your browser. These are technical preferences kept only on your device — they are not tracking cookies and are not sent anywhere.

Legal basis

Analytics cookies are used only on the basis of your consent (EU ePrivacy / GDPR).

Withdrawing consent

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via Settings → Cookie settings in the app, or by clearing this site's cookies and site data in your browser. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent.

AI image and video generation

The AI tools run on your own fal.ai API key, which you enter in Settings and which is stored only in your browser. Requests go from your browser straight to fal.ai and the model provider behind the model you picked (Google, OpenAI, ByteDance or Kuaishou) — we never see the key, the prompt, the frame you send, or the result.

Because of that, what you may do with a generated image or video is set by your agreement with fal.ai and that provider, not by us. Some models (Google Veo and Gemini among them) embed an invisible SynthID watermark in everything they produce. We make no warranty about ownership of, or rights in, generated content — check the terms of the model you are using before you rely on a generation commercially.
